When it comes to the state of being "single" one is faced with many highs and lows... I have composed a list of the things that are great about being single, and the things that are not so great.
High- Being able to go to bed at 8:00 on a Tuesday night just because you want to.
Low- Going to bed early knowing that no one is going to interupt your REM cycle to say goodnight.
High- You can be a complete slob at your house for a week, because no one is going to see it.
Low- Realizing you are a slob and that no one is coming over to see it.
High- Going out with your girlfriends for drinks
Low- Having to pay for those drinks
High- Buying new outfits and getting to show them off
Low- Wasting a new outfit on a uninteresting night.
High- Maintaining a busy schedule and getting to do whatever you want to do.
Low- When you start trying to date someone, you have to find a spot to schedule them in.
High- Having a entire bed to yourself all the time
Low- Snuggling with your stuffed animal (that might have happened this week... just saying).
High- Wearing any height of heel you want to
Low- Those new shoes giving you massive blisters
High- Being content being alone.
Low- All your friends getting engaged, married, or having babies
High- The fantasy of how you are going to meet Mr. Right
Low- Looking for Mr. Right at every corner
High- Accepting where you are in this moment. Loving yourself and trusting in the Lord that everything will turn out the way HE has planned. Knowing and believing that this is your season to focus on you, because any day your world could be flipped around by love and a new relationship.

Italia???
Ok so this singleton is torn. I've been invited on a 8 day trip to Italy over spring break, and I don't know what to do. Clearly, its one of my life long dreams to go to Europe and explore its rich tradition, but at this point in my life I'm not sure how responsible that is for me financially.
I'm a single girl who lives on a school counselor salary. Is it smart to spend $3,500+ on a Italian get away? Or should I be putting that money towards savings. I know I can cut back on shopping and eating out, but is that something I'm willing to do?
Is this the time of my life when I get on that serous budget I keep referring to? Is this when I actually entertain myself the cheap way of fitness, movies, and not buying cute outfits? I never thought a trip to Europe might be the thing that changed my life before I even left US soil!
I need a plan, I need advisers, I need a drink. My head says "don't do it", but my heart says "jump all in". So which one is it? What does Savvy do in this situation? Do I follow my heart?

Oh how I love the fall!
There is nothing better then waking up, fixing yourself a lil breakfast taco, lacing up your running shoes and hitting up the Katy Trail. This morning was the type of morning that belongs in a pocket. I think I have a runners high (well today for me it was more like a walker/jogger high). Dallas is so gorgeous, especially when its a cool 68 degrees outside.
As I walked the streets of Uptown towards my mid destination the trail, I just couldn't help but smile. THere were workers buzzing around cleaning the streets, yummy scents of brunch, and waiters hurridly setting tables on the empty patios. There were cars that didn't make it to their garage last night after a few too many drinks. THere were girls wearing last nights dress, and others wearing their cute running gear. It was so peaceful, I love me some urban living.
As I made my strides on the trail I looked at all the runners, so determined to make it somewhere. There were old couples strolling, babies giggling, and young singeltons working on their fitness. Though we were all there together, we were all in our own thoughts. My thoughts focusing on how amazing life is, and how blessed I am to be able to wake up each morning.
On my way home, I stopped by a cute lil coffee shop on my street, Crooked Tree Coffee. I love this place because its in a lil old house, that is now surrounded by all this urban life. For you teachers out there- it reminds me of the book "The Little House". I got my large cup of Oak Cliff brew latte and made my way back to my lil apartment in Big Dallas.

Thank you note #2
Dear chick at the gym in the white tank top,
Oh thank heaven for girls like you! The rest of us females really enjoy your ginormous fake boobs popping out of your low cut tank top, as you "lift" weights in the weight room. You really should be the one thanking your plastic surgeon for the botch job of a triple f. I really appreciated your effort in acting like you were lifting the bar over your head, when truly you were only checking yourself out in the mirror. Those guys looking at you, were not acknowledging your beauty, but merely how you looked like an idiot who was trying too hard! Oh and thank you for NOT wearing a bra under that thin white tank top. I already felt naseous from my 45 min on the treadmill, but you added to the gag factor.
Thank you for helping me lose my appetite,
Savvy

28 things I learned in my 28th year
- Getting older doesn't make life any less messy.
- Sometimes in life, you have to trust your gut. If it doesn't feel right, then it probably isn't.
- A guy is worth my time if he is able to follow the 4 P's: Protect, Provide, Profess (aka DTR), and have Passion (aka chemistry)
- True friends are the ones who are there to catch you when you fall (thank you all).
- My mom will always be my best friend.
- I can run.
- Life is much easier when you are an optimist.
- The Bible isn't that hard to read.
- If you can't love everything about yourself, no one else will be able to either.
- I am good luck for the Texas Rangers.
- Binge drinking is no longer something my body can handle (thank goodness).
- I'm actually a pretty decent cook.
- Even though my friends keep getting married and having babies, it doesn't make them any less of a friend to me.
- I am a diet coke addict, I've tried to stop, but my profession requires it!
- I'm getting better at doing things by myself.
- Just because someone is older then you, it doesn't mean they are necessarily wiser then you.
- I can't date anyone more social then me!
- I am an emotional person, that is just me, deal with it.
- Simplifying your life can be freeing. Giving things to those in need is even better.
- I'd rather be single and happy, then in a relationship that doesn't fill my love tank.
- If you don't want to kiss a guy you're dating, then he's nothing more then a friend.
- Family is important to me.
- I feel better when I workout at least 3 times a week.
- God has amazing plans for me, I need to rely on him more and on myself less.
- Being able to walk to the store, restaurants, and bars is pretty awesome. I don't think I could ever live in the booming burb until I have kids.
- You have to leave the past in the past if you want any chance of a future.
- Patience.
- I'm beautiful inside and out.

Thank you note #1
*** I am continuing Jimmy Fallon's "Thank You" letter idea. If you haven't heard or read his book, its hilarious!
Dear couple at the pool,
I just wanted to thank you for your extreme level of PDA that you displayed at the apartment pool this afternoon. If it weren't for the people swimming around you, you probably would have thought you were at a couple's honeymoon hotel or even better yet in your private back yard. I really appreciated how you the man, never let your woman's feet touch the bottom of the pool as you held her tightly in your arms. The two of you had great dynamics, especially as you the female would arch your back like a synchronized swimmer or better yet a porn star. I appreciate the level of intimacy you brought to the 20+ on lookers at the pool, oh and the elementary aged child. There were many times were you could have made your love swim rated R, but I thank you for keeping it PG-13.
Once again, I thank you for letting this single girl appreciate celibacy on a Sunday afternoon at the apartment pool. You have definitely shown me that just because there is a crowd, it doesn't mean you have to keep your hands where we can see them.
I hope next Sunday you can get a room, or a bigger towel,
Savvy
