#SB14

How do you know you had a great spring break? You know it when your face is swollen from all the boozy carbs and your body is physically exhausted from all the hustle and bustle. This morning it took a lot of self-talk to get out of bed. The sun beaming in through my bedroom window was the only thing that shuffled me to the closet to get dressed for church. For educators, spring break is nothing but a big tease! Nine days of relaxing and unwinding, only to have to jump back into the daily grind again Monday morning at 5:30 am. I have my crockpot going and my meals planned out for the week. I’m really trying to refocus.

My favorite pastor JP really spoke to me this morning when he said, “If you’re too busy to pray, then you are too busy”. I am too busy sometimes to stop and smell the roses, or to get on my knees and thank The Lord for my daily blessings. This week has proven that I need to cut some things out of my life. I thoroughly enjoyed being at my apartment, getting things organized, and just mentally and physically relaxing. I’ve become a girl that doesn't like to sit at home, craving the constant social connection and being constantly on the go.  But am I still that girl? Or is that the girl I became three years ago to avoid being alone? After my break up with Mr. Wrong I jumped into every social organization imaginable (kickball, church small group, Junior League, book club, dinner club, private practice, happy hours, gym memberships, volunteering). This week off has truly made me reflect on my social calendar. Maybe it is time to SLOW down and cut some of the fluff out of my busy days and long nights. What am I running towards? Or really what I have I been trying to avoid? I think I am finally at a place in my life that I am craving and desperately in need of down time. I need to be able to come home and have nothing to do…. and more importantly not feel scared about it. I’m at that point. I am ok with it just being me. I know that in order to prepare myself for my future spouse, that I need to really spend some time with me (and God).

Now don’t go thinking in your head that I’m going to become a hermit, too much quiet would drive this girl crazy. I’m just looking to seeing some days in my Google calendar without a color-coded appointment.

Daylight Savings Time Saved My Life

Daylight savings time saved my life, well not really, but it has made me come out from a deep winter hibernation! Here is what you need to catch up on folks:

- It's SPRING BREAK #SB14 (Cue the "Ignition Remix" by R Kelly...circa SB02)
- Saturday is St. Pat's on Greenville
- I had reflexology today, the entire time not able to relax because I was having flash backs of spring breaks past
- I'm still single... yup
- I gave up dating for Lent (yes that is a real thing to give up! A blog to follow)
- I don't have a baby.... duh...but all my friends do now!
- I may be slightly obsessed with Just Dance 2014, debating buying it to "preform" solo at my apartment nightly
- I'm somewhere between moving to the 'burbs and staying put in Uptown.
- Starting a new business adventure, scary yet exciting at the same time.
- Sleeping in till 8:30 makes me happy, so does the sun being out when I get home.
- Wine still makes me very happy, and I would go to Napa in a heartbeat.
- I no longer eat white carbs or sugar, but I am completely happy with my new medium tops and size 10 jeans!
- My parents bought me the largest lucky bamboo seen to man. (Thanks Costco) I'm hoping that it starts exuding its powers on me.
- I literally may be the happiest I have ever been
- I have been going to church on Sundays, even if it means sitting alone. (This is very hard for anyone to do!).
- I've become quite the chef for my friends this week.
- Juan Pablo is the worst Bachelor in history... my Bachelor Bracket with my friends proves this.
- I'm planning a reunion trip for my sorority sisters this fall.
- I did not watch any movies that we nominated for a academy award...I lie, I did see Frozen with 625 of my students, not sure that really counts.
- Booked a trip to Mexico in July- arriba!
- I have become addicted to boot camp, and can actually do push ups... who would have thunk it?
- OH.... I'M BACK TO BLOGGING!

My Obsession

So 31 has been the year of my obsession... I actually owe it to my fabulous friends for making it a Kendra Scott birthday!

They must have known that 31 is meant to be lived fabulously and stylishly as the majority of my gifts this year were wrapped in a yellow box with that beautiful blue bag! My cup truly runneth over! Each day as I get dressed I slip on one of these fabulous pieces of sophistication and I am transformed to a fashionista storming the streets of Dallas with a dash of elegance and sass!

Grown up best friend rings are the best.... Especially when they are something blue!

Moral of the story- style is about what makes you confident. Kendra Scott pieces definitely are my power pieces!

Say a lil prayer

MIA- Missing In Action

Yes I know I have been MIA, kinda like Gossip Girl when she went into a dark hideous. In a way I have been missing in action from my own life for the past few months. Between all the weddings and babies, I have been celebrating everyone but myself. I lost myself.

The great thing about things that are lost, is eventually they are found again. :)

Today I woke up and realized that my life has no agenda. It was a freeing and yet frightening feeling. What did I want to do with my day, what did I want to do with my life? There was no family obligations, no volunteer hours to log, and no pressing errands. I sat in that moment and felt back to where I was three years ago, at a fork in the road. I felt something higher then me calling to him. It was God calling me back to his fold. For the past few months I have been going through the motions, sabotaging my eon happiness to appease others and make it through the day. I've been doing what everyone else wanted me to do, and not listening to what my heart desired. I've been drowning that inner voice with lots of wine, carbs, and reality tv.

I did something I had never done before... I drove myself to church, walked in, and sat alone. I have never been to church alone. Tears started streaming down my face, not because I was sad, but because I was home...I was at peace, I was me again.

For the past year and a half I have been avoiding things. Specially church. I was running from dealing with all the emotions I have been feeling. With each worship song played, I grew in strength and visions of me came through. The sermon started with this line- "prayer is what changes things". I cannot change my world on my own, I need God.

I also realized that I have had such writers block for my blog because I didn't want to acknowledge the feelings I have been burying. Friends would say "we miss Savvy" and I would simply say I was too busy... Well duh, too busy running to the next event on my calendar.

After church I went to lunch by myself and shopped around. I came home and took a nap, and prayed that when I woke up that everything would be clearer. When I woke up, it was. I was me. I was ready to restart my engines on this thing called life.

I want to live each day to the fullest, and not rush through or wish my days away. I need to live myself and for God...not for what everyone else wants of me. For my friends and family reading this, please don't misinterpret my words. I love all the blessings that have happened over this year, I just need to do a better part of balancing my world! I need to independently celebrate the gifts given to me.

Every night I light my candle of Saint Anthony (the patron saint for lost things) and pray for my lost soul mate. Tonight I pray not only for my husband, but for the return of myself. I'd love if you would pray the same prayer with me.

Nerves

Here we go again. Savvy is dressed to the nines and sitting in the parking lot, anxiously awaiting what's on the other side of the restaurant door. Maybe the 90th blind date will be good luck? Lol!

I was perfectly calm earlier about getting back into the dating scene. I read yet another dating self help book, watched Millionaire Matchmaker, and enlisted my engaged girlfriends to spruce up my Match profile.

After 6 outfit changes, numerous fashion pics of me in the mirror, and a heavy glass of wine... I'm ready!

Lets hope he really is 5'11 because I wore my sparkly heels tonight!

I know some of you have wondered where Savvy has gone. I'm still here, but I'm in the middle of a mid-life metamorphosis!!
