I have studied the DSM and am licensed to counsel but when it comes to diagnosing myself I need a little help from my friends- and in this case my friends at Woman's Health. It seems they have defined what I am battling. My disorder is derived from a full social calendar, a demanding work load with a part time job, Junior League, dating, socializing with friends, and a avid hobby of shopping. I am constantly tired and trying to catch up on my sleep, especially after a late Friday or Saturday night (and in some case Thursday as well).
So what is my diagnosis?? SOCIAL JET LAG! It's a real condition my friends! Read up on it in your January/February 2013 issue. No wonder during this break I have been in a constant state of comatose. My VERY social December has my body all out of whack! I though I was doing a good thing by sleeping in on the weekends, when actually I was only intensifying my social jet lag.
The good news is that there is a cure (whew)! It starts with me keeping a set alarm. If you were to look at my IPhone right now, you would see 15 different alarms set, one for each of my post social needs. Tonight I will be deleting those and sticking to one set time *tear.
Here's to distinguishing social jet lag!
